About The Team
The Billing team at GEICO oversees the tools, infrastructure, data, reporting, analytics, and services essential for delivering seamless billing experiences to internal users, end customers, and partners. Our billing platform functions as the backbone for managing financial transactions and customer interactions, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction while supporting strategic growth and ensuring compliance.
What You Will Do
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to drive the technical vision of the Billing Platform. This platform includes a comprehensive array of components such as a core billing engine, invoicing system, commissions management, collections, payment processing, CRM integration, subscription management, credit control and dunning management, along with reporting and analytics. The ideal candidate will be someone who has built large scale distributed systems, is empathetic, excels at building strong relationships, and collaborates effectively with other GEICO teams.
Responsibilities
Deliver cutting edge platforms that scale to users'’ needs, focusing on reliability and efficiency
Lead and manage a team of ambitious, talented engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure their success
Provide hands‑on technical leadership in architecture/design, vision/direction/requirements setting, and incident response processes for your reports
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team
Partner with our recruiting team to attract and hire top talent and define the overall hiring strategies for your team
Minimum Requirements
10+ years of professional software development experience and at least 4 years of experience managing teams that shipped large scale applications and distributed systems
Proven success in recruiting and building great teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills for various audiences, including leadership, users, and company-wide
Effective cross‑functional collaboration, with the ability to think rigorously, communicate clearly, and make or coordinate difficult decisions and trade‑offs
Thrives with high autonomy and responsibility in an ambiguous environment
Technical acumen to drive clarity with staff engineers on architecture and strategic technical decisions
Ability to foster a healthy, inclusive, challenging, and supportive work environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the financial technology sector, with a focus on billing, payments, subscription management, and financial reporting
Expertise with a wide range of technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or their equivalents
Education
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
This is a HYBRID role working out of the following offices: Palo Alto, CA; Dallas, TX; Chevy Chase, MD
Annual Salary
$140,000.00 - $300,000.00
