Music Rights & Contracts Specialist (Temp)
This is a 3-month, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid contract role located in Santa Monica, CA. Hybrid – 3 days onsite (Tues, Weds, Thurs). The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $30 - $31.64 per hour.
Summary We are seeking a Contract Administration Temp to join a Legal team supporting management of critical rights and IP data. This role focuses on analyzing complex legal agreements, maintaining accurate rights information across multiple digital systems, and supporting overall data integrity for the organization.
Our Ideal Candidate
2-3 years of experience in Contract Administration, preferably in the music industry
Passion for the music industry with strong understanding of rights management, legal agreements, and catalog structures
Proficient in web-based applications, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Windows
Familiar with music industry agreements, including recording, distribution, label ventures, and film/TV
Skilled in collaborating with internal teams and growing into a subject matter expert
Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, timelines, and stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication with exceptional attention to detail
Highly organized with excellent time management and coordination skills
Creative and able to initiate new ideas while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Passionate about music, genres, eras, and industry knowledge
Job Description In this role, you will analyze complex legal agreements and enter critical rights data into rights management applications so that information is accurate and accessible across the organization. You will create written summaries of artist contracts, conduct in-depth research, maintain tracking reports, and organize files and correspondence.
You’ll partner with internal teams to ensure accurate rights data and provide actionable insights to support decision-making and business initiatives.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Music Industry Studies, or equivalent practical experience
Background in Contract Administration, legal rights management, or music industry operations
Additional Requirements This opportunity is located in Santa Monica, CA, and requires hybrid work (Tues, Weds, Thurs onsite).
