Basic Job Functions: The Maintenance Technician is a key member of our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

In addition, applicants should demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing electrical issues, interpreting electrical schematics, troubleshooting control circuits, and utilizing diagnostic tools such as multimeters. Experience with electrical panel wiring, motor controls, and identifying faulty components in complex systems is highly desirable. Ability to conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures and perform corrective actions efficiently is essential.
Key Responsibilities: Perform diversified duties to install, maintain, and repair production machines and plant equipment. Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during production, as well as scheduled maintenance during machine service. Electrical troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components, ensuring reliable operation of all production machines. Apply advanced skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform required maintenance and service. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make necessary adjustments. Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities. Safely operate various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment. Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure work areas remain clean and orderly. Other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor. Compensation:
Total Starting Pay: $35-$45/hour
($22.60-$26.91 Base Hourly + Weekly Production Bonus) Example: Hourly Base Rate = $22.60 Weekly Production Bonus = 55%. Total Hourly Rate = $35.03 Current Average Production Bonus is 63%.
Production Bonus Production Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon attaining production goals each week. Production Bonus is paid out weekly.
Profit-Sharing 10% of Nucor’s pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. High school diploma/GED 3 years of manufacturing experience Completion of a craft apprenticeship (Combination of education, certifications, or equivalent experience in manufacturing maintenance will be considered in lieu of apprenticeship requirement) Preferred Qualifications:
AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance 5 + years of manufacturing experience Experience with VFD & Servo Drive Systems Experience in CNC machine maintenance & troubleshotting PLC experience
