Job Description Job Description HVAC Mechanic — Senior / Lead Technician Small fast growing is looking to hire a skilled HVAC Mechanic to install, maintain, and repair residential/commercial HVAC systems — and to lead, mentor, and develop a small team of technicians. This hands-on role requires advanced troubleshooting ability, strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, and proven leadership to deliver safe, code-compliant, and timely service across complex systems. What you’ll do Lead & mentor: Supervise, train, and coach junior technicians; assign work orders, set priorities, and perform quality control checks to ensure excellent workmanship. Complex maintenance & repair: Perform advanced diagnostics, preventive maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, controls, and related equipment. Installation oversight: Manage and participate in installations and system upgrades — ductwork, piping, electrical connections, controls — ensuring work meets plans, codes, and specifications. Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose root causes and recommend repair or replacement strategies that maximize uptime and efficiency. Documentation & inventory: Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, equipment records, and parts/tool inventories. Safety & compliance: Enforce and follow OSHA, EPA, and local regulations and safety procedures; ensure refrigerant handling and other regulated tasks comply with law. Customer & stakeholder communication: Explain technical issues clearly to clients and internal partners, prepare estimates, and follow up to ensure satisfaction. Emergency response: Provide on-call support for after-hours emergencies when required. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. HVAC certification program or completed apprenticeship strongly preferred. Experience: 3–5 years at a journeyman/senior level with demonstrated lead or supervisory experience preferred. Licenses & certifications: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required. EPA Section 608 (Universal) certification required. NATE, OSHA, or other professional certifications are a plus. Technical skills: Proficient reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics; strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; experience with BAS and CMMS is preferred. Physical & interpersonal: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; able to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform duties in varied weather and conditions.
