Associate – Private Investments (Asset Management / GP Stakes)
A Boston-based private permanent capital platform is seeking an Associate to join its investment team. The firm partners with independent asset management businesses to solve succession, liquidity, and other capital needs—backing entrepreneurial management teams with a long‑term, multi‑generational approach and deep alignment of interests.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a lean, high‑standards team investing in the businesses behind investment strategies—combining rigorous underwriting with hands‑on strategic partnership across ownership transitions and long‑term value creation.
The Opportunity We are looking for a commercially sharp, execution‑strong investor who can take ownership of workstreams and communicate with clarity. You will support new investments and help drive strategic initiatives across existing partner firms, working closely with senior investors and management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate new investments in asset management firms: market mapping, business model analysis, and investment thesis development
Own core diligence workstreams: financial analysis/modeling, scenario work, valuation, and preparation of IC‑ready materials
Analyze key drivers of asset management businesses (e.g., AUM growth, fee economics, distribution effectiveness, product mix, capacity, operating leverage)
Coordinate third‑party advisors and manage timelines, diligence outputs, and parallel workstreams
Support ownership‑transition processes and long‑term partnership structuring consistent with a permanent capital approach
Contribute to partner‑firm value creation initiatives (e.g., equity & compensation plans, succession planning, marketing & distribution, product development, recruiting, financing, lift‑outs & acquisitions, operations)
Monitor partner performance and prepare concise updates, KPI views, and decision‑useful memos for senior stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
3–4 years of experience, typically from Investment Banking (M&A, FIG, Sponsors, LevFin, or equivalent) and/or top‑tier strategy consulting (e.g., McKinsey/Bain/BCG) or similar high‑rigor environment
Strong analytical toolkit: accounting fluency, business‑model underwriting, and the ability to synthesize complexity into crisp outputs
High ownership mentality: comfortable driving workstreams with limited oversight
Genuine interest in asset management business models and long‑term investing/partnership structures
High standards, humility, and pace; strong written and verbal communication
Why Join
Join a permanent capital investor built for long‑duration partnerships and stability—not a traditional short‑hold PE model
Work with a platform whose partner firms collectively manage over $116B in assets (scale and quality of ecosystem)
Meaningful responsibility in a lean team; direct exposure to senior decision‑makers and management teams
A seat at the intersection of investing + strategy + ownership transition in one of the most durable parts of financial services
Seniority Level Associate
Employment Type Full‑time
Job Function Sales, Business Development, and Finance
Industries Financial Services, Investment Banking, and Venture Capital and Private Equity Principals
