Job Summary The Head of Engineering will lead all technical aspects of the organisation, overseeing the development of robotics, AI, and software systems from strategy through execution. This is a senior leadership role with high ownership, responsible for shaping the technology roadmap, building a strong engineering culture, and delivering robust, production‑ready systems.

This role is hands‑on and highly collaborative, working closely with leadership, investors, and cross‑functional teams to turn ambitious technical vision into deployed products.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the overall engineering and technology roadmap aligned with business objectives

Make high-level architectural decisions across hardware, software, and AI systems AI & Machine Learning

Lead the integration of advanced AI and machine learning techniques into robotic platforms

Guide development of learning-based systems that enable robots to acquire skills from human demonstrations

Robotics Hardware & Controls

Oversee hardware iterations, prototyping, and system integration

Apply deep expertise in robotic controls, sensors, actuators, and end‑effectors to optimise performance and reliability

Software Architecture

Contribute to scalable, maintainable, and secure software architectures

Ensure strong integration between embedded systems, robotics software, and AI components

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team

Foster a collaborative and innovative culture using effective agile and Scrum-based development practices

System Integration

Own end-to-end integration of hardware, software, and AI systems

Ensure systems perform reliably in real-world operational environments

External & Strategic Engagement

Act as a senior technical representative in discussions with partners and stakeholders

Support fundraising activities through technical presentations and due diligence

Stay current with advancements in robotics, AI, and automation

Identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to product development

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

7–10+ years of experience in robotics and AI/ML development

Experience working in startup or fast-paced product environments

Hands‑on background in designing, developing, and testing hardware and software systems

Proficiency in Python and C++

Strong knowledge of computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning

Experience with robotic controls, sensors, and actuators

Familiarity with agile development methodologies

Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams

Comfortable leveraging modern AI tools to accelerate engineering problem-solving

Preferred

Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline

Experience with robotics simulation and analysis tools

Familiarity with computer vision libraries

Background in reinforcement learning and physical AI policy development

Experience working with industrial robotic platforms

Agile or Scrum-related certifications
