Histology Technologist (Histotechnologist)
to support our client’s facility in
State College, PA 16801.
This is a
13-week contract opportunity,

Job Summary Under the direction of laboratory supervisors and pathologists, the Histotechnologist is responsible for the prompt, accurate, and efficient performance of histological procedures on tissue specimens. This role supports diagnostic pathology services by ensuring precise specimen handling, processing, staining, and slide preparation in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Accession, identify, and process all tissue specimens received in Anatomic Pathology, ensuring absolute accuracy in patient identification. Accurately enter patient demographics, specimen source, and ordering physician/surgeon information into the system. Assist pathologists during gross examinations by preparing properly labeled tissue cassettes and operating tissue processors. Process and embed tissue specimens, cut sections from paraffin blocks, stain slides, and deliver completed slides to pathologists in a timely manner. Prepare and assist with frozen section procedures upon receipt of specimens. Perform routine and special histochemical staining procedures as requested by the pathologist within required turnaround times. Prepare slides and anatomical materials for external consultations or additional laboratory testing as needed. Maintain organized filing and storage of tissue blocks and slides, ensuring proper retention and efficient retrieval. Assist with specimen rotation and storage management in compliance with retention policies.
Required Qualifications Active ASCP certification as a Histotechnologist (or equivalent certification). Minimum of 1 year of histology experience. Strong knowledge of histology laboratory procedures and workflows. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
