Competitive / Flexible (based on experience) Position Summary The Level 2 Network Engineer will support the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of complex network environments, including Ethernet and InfiniBand technologies. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams, customers, and vendors to define network topologies and resolve networking issues in high-performance computing (HPC) and enterprise environments. Key Technologies Ethernet, InfiniBand, Mellanox/NVIDIA, LAN, WAN, WLAN Duties and Responsibilities Design, configure, and manage enterprise and high-performance networks, including Ethernet and InfiniBand environments. Troubleshoot server and network connectivity issues involving top-of-rack switches, direct-attach cabling (DAC), and network interface cards (NICs). Analyze network failures and collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to identify root causes. Design and deploy LAN, WAN, and WLAN solutions. Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers. Monitor network performance, availability, and integrity. Implement, test, and maintain network security measures. Maintain accurate and complete technical documentation. Recommend improvements to network performance, scalability, and capacity. Research, implement, and support ongoing network operations and infrastructure enhancements. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Required Skills and Abilities Strong hands-on experience with Ethernet and InfiniBand network configuration and management. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues. Solid understanding of network administration, architecture, and operating systems. In-depth knowledge of networking, communication, and routing protocols. Familiarity with network security concepts, access control models, and best practices. Experience using network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills. Preferred Qualifications Professional networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCDP) are preferred. Experience with enterprise firewalls, switches, and multi-vendor network environments. Education and Experience Bachelors degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Masters degree preferred). 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or network engineering, including enterprise and/or InfiniBand network technologies.
