Position Overview The Director of Development will understand the mission, needs and value proposition of The Ohio State University and the Fisher College of Business (FCOB) and build relationships with prospective donors to increase philanthropic support. The focus is on identifying, engaging, and building a portfolio of donors for major gifts of $100,000 and above, with at least 50% of the fundraising effort supporting the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship. The role requires frequent travel, strong communication skills, and collaboration across Advancement and the university.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, qualify, and cultivate a portfolio of prospective major gift donors for the Keenan Center and Fisher College of Business.
Conduct donor research to determine capacity, interests, and potential giving levels.
Build context for gift proposals and implement strategic solicitation plans.
Maximize stewardship opportunities to deepen relationships and increase gifts.
Work with faculty and Keenan Center leadership to cultivate partnerships.
Hires, trains and develops staff (if applicable) and provides daily management.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned, focusing on fundraising for the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship.
Collaborate with colleagues across the institution and serve as a secondary fundraiser on multi‑unit gifts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Four years of relevant experience, including at least two years of professional fundraising experience (building relationships, conducting appointments, presenting proposals, closing gifts) and two years in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement, account management, or related field emphasizing donor cultivation.
Desired Qualifications
At least four years of professional fundraising experience raising five‑ or six‑figure gifts.
Experience in higher education or a hospital/health‑care environment.
Experience in other advancement departments such as donor relations, stewardship, donor communications, or alumni relations.

Position is a standby position per Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17.
