Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Platform Engineering to lead our firm’s cloud and automation strategy. In this role, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of platform engineering across a hybrid multi-cloud environment, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security. You will be responsible for shaping and leading a high-performing team of DevOps, cloud and DBA engineers, while collaborating with cybersecurity, software development, and business leaders to deliver resilient infrastructure and modern engineering practices. This role is ideal for a leader who is both technically fluent and strategically minded, capable of driving innovation while establishing governance and best practices across the firm.

Major Responsibilities

Define and execute the firm’s platform engineering vision and multi‑cloud strategy across AWS, Azure, Snowflake and other platforms.

Establish a roadmap for infrastructure and database modernization, automation, and platform services to enable business agility and growth.

Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing platform engineering team, instilling a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

Develop career paths and succession plans to reduce key‑man risk and strengthen organizational resilience.

Platform Governance

Set and enforce standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and automation.

Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and audit requirements in collaboration with Cybersecurity and Compliance teams.

Database & Data Platforms

Oversee the DBA team, ensuring reliability, performance, and governance across enterprise databases.

Provide strategic ownership of Snowflake and other database platforms, including support for ETL/ELT processes, performance optimization, and integration with analytics and development teams.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Partner with Software Development, Data, and Product teams to align infrastructure capabilities with business priorities.

Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on cloud adoption, DevOps maturity, and cost optimization strategies.

Operational Excellence

Oversee the design and operation of resilient multi‑cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes).

Champion observability, monitoring, and proactive incident management practices to ensure high system availability and performance.

Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging cloud, automation, and DevOps technologies.

Promote a strong developer experience by enabling autonomy, self‑service, and standardization across teams.

What We Value Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Experience

10+ years in cloud, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

Proven track record leading platform or DevOps teams in complex hybrid multi‑cloud environments.

Technical Expertise

Deep understanding of AWS, Azure, and hybrid architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).

Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Octopus, Bamboo).

Database performance tuning, administration, and governance across Snowflake and traditional RDBMS platforms.

Familiarity with observability frameworks (DataDog, OpenSearch, and LogicMonitor).

Leadership Skills

Ability to set technical vision, align stakeholders, and inspire teams.

Skilled in balancing strategic priorities with operational execution.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and decision‑making abilities.

Preferred Skills

Experience integrating developer workflows with Jira, GitHub, and related tools.

Exposure to ETL/ELT processes and data platforms such as Snowflake.

Prior experience in the financial services or hedge fund sector strongly preferred.

We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $200,000‑250,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year‑end bonus.
