SkillBridge Fixed-Wing Pilot (GFL) – Military Fellowship
Guardian Flight, LLC is hiring an active-duty U.S. Military Service Member to serve as a Pilot in the Global Medical (GMR) SkillBridge program. The program provides 90‑day employment training and on‑the‑job experience while the participant retains military pay and benefits.
Program Overview The SkillBridge program runs for 90 days, with active-duty Service Members qualified to participate for up to 180 days. The Fellowship includes training, internships, and on‑the‑job experience in the medical response industry. Military pay and benefits are retained; GMR does not provide compensation.
Responsibilities
Operate company aircraft safely and efficiently, following Federal Aviation Regulations, the Guardian Flight EMS Operations Manual, and all state and municipal regulations.
Monitor weather conditions and forecast changes.
Conduct preflight inspections using the Fixed Wing Flight Manual and document discrepancies in the engineering log.
Report to the shift supervisor and stay current on weather and forecast changes.
Training & Placement The Fellowship includes 90‑day training. Upon completion, a newly hired GMR/Guardian Flight Pilot can expect a starting base salary between $91,167.60 and $100,284.36, geographic modifiers, a $15,000 sign‑on bonus, and a $40,000 retention bonus after 3 years.
Qualifications
Current active‑duty U.S. Military Service Member.
Meet DoD SkillBridge qualifications.
Available to participate for up to 180 days.
Obtain signed approval from a unit commander (O‑4 or above) and agree that participation can be terminated at any time by the Service.
Pilot Requirements (Line Pilot)
2,500 total flight hours.
2,000 fixed‑wing hours.
1,000 PIC hours.
500 cross‑country hours.
100 night hours.
75 instrument hours (at least 50 actual).
Pilot Requirements (Aircraft Types)
Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land (C‑ASEL) required; must obtain ATP within 5 years.
Current FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate.
Valid, unexpired driver’s license.
High‑school diploma or equivalent.
