Alfred Center – Residential Recovery Program

The Fr. Alfred Center’s year‑long, abstinence‑based program empowers homeless men with no income or resources to develop sober, stable lives. Counselors conduct assessments, one‑on‑one counseling, educational, and group sessions for up to 12 residents, providing oversight and support services. Expectations include: Resident Engagement

Conduct intake interviews and assessments of incoming residents. Provide individual counseling and case management for a caseload of 10–12 residents. Develop and update clients’ case work plans. Assist residents in developing personal recovery plans. Assess harmful dynamics, intervene, and counsel. Monitor residents’ compliance, implement consequences, and document benchmarks in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO). Participate in weekly case conferences. Conduct group sessions (process groups, anger management, etc.). Assist with counselors’ caseloads during absences. Collaborate with St. Anthony programs (Dining Room, Tenderloin Tech Lab, Medical Clinic, Workforce Development, Social Work Center) and community agencies. Oversee all resident activities and transportation, monitoring compliance with program and residence rules. Provide support for residents and treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect. Program Administration and Operations

Complete reports and paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly. Enter data electronically as required and retrieve data via database. Understand and follow the organization’s policies and procedures. Participate in regular training to increase capacity for innovative service delivery. Maintain case notes and client files in a timely manner. Record significant events in the staff log and fill medication sheets accurately. Assist in evaluating, planning, and implementing program procedures and policies. Teamwork

Participate in meetings supporting team communication and organizational goals. Collaborate to achieve team success, manage stress, and maintain integrity. Practice respectful and honest communication with colleagues. Minimum Qualifications

Valid AOD counselor certification (CCAPP and DHCS) with ≥2 years experience in chemical dependency field. High school diploma/GED and ≥3 years experience in social services, especially residential programs. ≥2 years experience in client caseload management and group counseling. Knowledge of chemical dependency treatment, 12‑step work, and social model programs. Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills. Spanish/English bilingual strongly preferred. Ability to set limits and practice professional boundaries. Ability to respond to emergencies calmly. Work non‑traditional hours (weekends, holidays). Ability to complete paperwork neatly. Computer literate (Windows, MS Office); database experience preferred; willingness to learn tech. Valid CA driver’s license with excellent record.
