Newark School of Architecture and Interior Design SY2026-27 (NBOE) seeks a qualified individual to serve as Department Chairperson for the Science department. The position is posted by Newark Public Schools and is pending availability of funds and Superintendent’s approval.

Qualifications and Requirements
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
New Jersey Department of Education Supervisor Standard Certificate.
Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in teaching the related content area or related experience.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the growth and development of teachers working collaboratively with peers.
Assist teachers in alignment, articulation, integration, and implementation of curriculum through and across grade levels.
Teach demonstration lessons in classrooms and serve as a peer coach and mentor for staff in reciprocal relationships.
Provide teachers the opportunity to develop effective instructional techniques, strategies, and professional behaviors.
Have knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
Assume responsibility to attend and participate in ongoing professional development activities.
Provide teachers with the opportunity to enhance knowledge of content and management skills.
Analyze and communicate student assessment data, and make program recommendations based on the analysis of available data.
Provide reports on the progress of program initiatives.
Perform other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment as assigned by the Principal.
Monitor implementation of the school district’s approved content program in accordance with the needs of students.
Assume responsibility to attend and participate in in‑service workshops.
Assist the classroom teacher and teacher aides in the creative use of new technological equipment and supplementary materials.
Perform other duties and tasks assigned by Supervisor.
Reports To Principal
Salary, Employment Period, and Union Affiliation
Salary Range: $92,000–$128,000
Employment Period: Eleven (11) months
Union Affiliation: CASA
