Early Career Trial Attorney (Remote - Baton Rouge, LA) Join the legal frontline and champion the defense for both the insured and the Company. As a Trial Attorney, you'll handle bodily injury, property damage lawsuits, and more, with thrilling trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Beyond the courtroom, you'll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate between legal teams. Stay ahead of the game by monitoring new laws and regulations, ensuring our strategies remain sharp.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions.

Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.

Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.

Interview clients and witnesses, and draft summaries of their statements and maintain communication records.

Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.

Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.

Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.

Education

Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Louisiana state bar.

Minimum Requirements

Able to complete legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating thorough legal research and clear, well-structured legal documents.

Strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.

Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.

Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.

Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.

Majority of the work centers on legal files within the greater Baton Rouge area, with periodic travel required to Lafayette and surrounding areas.

Compensation The compensation offered for this role is $110,000.00 - $120,650.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
