Director/VP of Construction

to join us at an exciting stage of growth. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned construction leader who enjoys building great spaces, partnering closely with passionate teams, and helping bring new restaurants to life while shaping the next chapter of a dynamic Bay Area hospitality group.

Why Super Duper? Super Duper is a great place to build a career. We are committed to our people—providing ongoing training, off‑site team events, and generous benefits. Position Objective Lead the planning and execution of construction, capital, and maintenance initiatives that support Super Duper’s growth and operational excellence. The Director of Construction ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and operationally ready, while reducing build costs, improving timelines, and protecting long‑term asset performance while upholding Super Duper standards for quality, safety, and operational readiness.

Position Accountabilities

On‑Time, On‑Budget Delivery:

Achieve an on‑time and on‑budget project completion rate of 80% or higher across new builds, remodels, and capital projects.

Build Time and Cost Optimization:

Develop and implement strategies to reduce average construction timelines and overall build costs while maintaining quality, safety, and brand standards.

R&M and CAPEX Strategy:

Provide strategic leadership and governance over Repair & Maintenance and CAPEX spend, ensuring capital is deployed effectively to support growth, asset longevity, and operational performance.

Preventative Maintenance Leadership:

Lead the preventative maintenance strategy to reduce reactive repairs, improve equipment reliability, and extend the useful life of facilities and assets.

Construction Execution Leadership:

Demonstrate the ability to personally direct trades when required or effectively oversee General Contractors to ensure accountability, quality execution, and consistent results.

Key Responsibilities (in addition to Position Accountabilities)

Leadership & Accountability:

Own construction outcomes across assigned projects, setting clear expectations and holding internal teams, contractors, and vendors accountable to schedules, budgets, and standards.

Project Planning and Oversight:

Oversee construction projects from site diligence through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, and cost alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Trade and Vendor Management:

Coordinate and manage General Contractors, trades, and suppliers to ensure effective communication, sequencing, and issue resolution.

Site Diligence & Risk Management:

Lead site diligence efforts to identify constructability risks, code requirements, utilities constraints, and landlord responsibilities early in the development process.

Pipeline Management:

Manage a pipeline of approximately 4–5 openings per year, maintaining visibility across all active and upcoming projects. Allocate time and resources effectively to support overlapping timelines and changing priorities.

Financial Awareness:

Track project costs, manage change orders, and forecast final spend against approved budgets. Identify risks and variances early and recommend corrective actions to protect financial outcomes.

Cross‑Functional Partnership:

Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, and Leadership to align projects with business needs, opening readiness, and long‑term growth objectives.

How You Achieve It Stay focused on disciplined execution and proactive leadership. Anticipate risks early, communicate clearly, and follow through consistently. Balance hands‑on field leadership with strategic planning, holding partners accountable while delivering projects that are operationally ready and built to last.

Experience

Experience with early‑stage restaurant and/or retail rollouts required.

Proven leadership of construction, CAPEX, and maintenance initiatives across multiple concurrent projects.

Ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on, including direct trade oversight when needed.

Experience managing projects ranging from $200K – $2M.
