Neuroscience Area Business Leader – Philadelphia, PA
Novartis is recruiting a field‑based and remote Area Business Leader to support a sales team in the Philadelphia, PA region.
This role does not offer relocation support and is not visa‑sponsored.
The candidate must be able to travel 60–80% of the time and drive within the territory.
Summary This position directs a team of Territory Account Specialists, delivering customer‑centred experiences that drive brand demand across the assigned geography. The leader mentors the team in cross‑functional collaboration with physicians, key accounts and systems of care, establishing Novartis a preferred partner.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, develop, retain and mentor a diverse sales team, establishing accountability and continuous performance improvement.
Model a shared vision, set clear expectations, promote accountability and challenge the status‑quo to optimize processes.
Ensure Territory Account Specialists execute total‑account calls, coordinating resources for efficient face‑to‑face interactions.
Design and implement customer‑centric business plans in partnership with engagement and cross‑functional teams to maximize experience and demand.
Serve on the regional leadership team, contributing to business goals, execution plans and culture.
Embed a customer‑centric culture where team members act as effective business owners, encouraging collaboration, problem‑solving and experimentation.
Apply deep knowledge of clinical, access, reimbursement and omni‑channel marketing tools to mentor team members during field contacts and one‑on‑one sessions.
Leverage analytics platforms to drive decisions, identify risk and opportunity, and ensure optimal deployment of resources.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a 4‑year college or university.
2+ years as a first‑line sales manager with strategic, enterprise‑level leadership in pharmaceuticals, biotech or related complex sales environments.
Demonstrated success in sophisticated selling environments (pharma, biotech, healthcare, medical devices, diagnostics, life‑sciences services, insurance, consumer health, B2B) with high‑performance team leadership.
Proven track record in attracting, developing and retaining diverse talent, driving sales performance, and executing strategy in matrixed, multi‑regional settings.
Experience managing field organizations through change, innovation or growth.
Candidate must reside within 100 miles of the territory border, drive/fly as required, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Desirable Requirements
Experience leading sales teams in promoting large practices, hospitals, IDNs and systems of care with understanding of reimbursement for outpatient and inpatient settings.

Compensation Summary
Area Business Leader I: $138,600 – $257,400 per year
Area Business Leader II: $138,600 – $257,400 per year
Senior Area Business Leader: $160,300 – $297,700 per year
