Job Summary The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Vice Principal for the Monarch School of the Innovation division. The Vice Principal will support the instructional process, perform administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school, supervise assigned staff, coordinate activities, and address issues that arise on campus or with enrolled students. The role fosters a safe, culturally responsive learning environment for a student population primarily composed of historically underrepresented students and communities. This position reports to the Principal or the Assigned Administrator.

About Monarch School

Monarch is a public‑private partnership between SDCOE and the nonprofit Monarch School Project, a 501(c)(3) corporation. Nearly 300 students attend daily. We serve approximately 167 families and 91 alumni throughout the school year. Monarch is the only comprehensive K‑12 school in the U.S. specifically developed to serve unhoused students and their families. It combines a public‑school setting with robust social care.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum qualifications under review.

Education and Experience Education : Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a closely related field.

OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree and four (4) years of effective teaching experience including instructional and leadership experience, experience conducting IEP meetings, experience with MTSS, PBIS, trauma‑informed care, and working with English Language Development students.

Certificates, Licenses, and Credentials

Valid California Administrative Services Credential.

Valid California Teaching Credential.

Valid CLAD certification/EL Authorization.

Valid California Driver’s License.

Applicants who currently hold a valid Certificate of Eligibility or meet all requirements for an Administrative Services Credential (CL‑574c) issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) are welcome. Proof of current eligibility must be submitted at the time of application. In‑progress applications/exams or pending recommendations will not be accepted.

Comments and Other Information Valid California credentials are required at the time of hire. If you do not possess the required credentials, consult the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing website.
