Job Description Enlighten is a cutting‑edge technology company dedicated to creating innovative software solutions for clients. The Software Engineer will design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities on computer‑based systems, working closely with a collaborative team to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Develop Java‑based software capabilities.
Apply inquisitive problem‑solving, responsiveness, and strong testing skills.
Utilize troubleshooting skills and manage multiple deadlines.
Work in a fast‑paced, small‑business environment with talented engineers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
U.S. citizenship required. No Secret clearance required on day one; can be processed for a Secret level clearance.
At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering with modern Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Guava), and a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years of experience with a master’s degree; or high school diploma with 9 years of experience.
Experience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and object‑oriented programming paradigms.
Experience with the Linux operating system and configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Nexus, Maven). Full knowledge of agile software lifecycle.
Proven ability to learn quickly and work independently and as part of a team.
Hybrid work requires 1–2 days per week in the Columbia, MD office.
Preferred Requirements
Current Secret or higher level clearance preferred.
DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required.
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure).
Experience with distributed NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr) and full‑text search engines.
Scripting experience is a plus.
Familiarity with the Enlighten Big Data Platform is a plus.
Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and use of standard tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub Enterprise).
