Engineer Software - Software Integration & Test Automation (Multiple Locations) Northrop Grumman is looking to add a skilled Engineer Software for Software Integration & Test Automation to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be located in Palmdale, CA; El Segundo, CA; or San Diego, CA.

Relocation assistance may be available.

Clearance type: Top Secret.

Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time.

The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels, and adapt to change. The role requires working knowledge of the full development life‑cycle processes that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Candidate must exhibit strong leadership characteristics in coordinating with multiple teams and managing tasks. The role will be a hybrid of significantly diverse assignments in a collaborative/team setting across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in both development, lab, and operational environments, as well as be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, integration/test engineers, and program leadership.

Roles And Responsibilities

Develop and execute software installation, integration, and acceptance test procedures in an automated test environment.

Develop detailed, clear, and concise quality technical documentation.

Plan and execute software integration of separate components into a single system.

Coordinate with software developers and other engineers to diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during software installation, integration, acceptance testing, and operational events.

Submit detailed problem reports for errors found.

The selected candidate will be required to work full‑time, on‑site at our facility. There is no remote/hybrid/telework available for this position. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.

Knowledge with Agile Framework.

Knowledge of implementing software and scripts in one or more object‑oriented programming languages: C/C++, C#, or Java, AND Python.

Knowledge of Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools such as: Atlassian tool suite, GitHub, GitLab, AND/OR Jenkins.

Knowledge of testing methodologies, frameworks, and automated testing using: GoogleTest, TestComplete, Cucumber, Atlas, Eggplant Automation, Unit Test Factory, ATF (Automated Test Framework), Robot within the last 3 years.

Knowledge of architecting, designing, modeling (Rhapsody or Cameo), implementing, maintaining, integrating, debugging, verifying, and qualifying safety‑critical embedded real‑time software or command & control software written in OO C++ running on real‑time operating systems such as: VxWorks, Integrity, and/or real‑time embedded Linux.

Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Current approved PAR to applicable program.

Differentiating characteristics including demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

Availability to support occasional travel.

Knowledge of implementing software and scripts in JavaScript.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range is a general guideline. Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allows employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Northrop Grumman also provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation or personal business.
