Job Summary As a senior member of the Group Benefits leadership team, you will sell self‑funded and stop‑loss insurance to employers, focusing on level‑funded solutions for small and mid‑size businesses. You’ll expand new business, improve retention of existing accounts, and manage endorsement partner relationships, driving revenue and profitability to protect the company’s long‑term viability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and lead all aspects of a focused and successful distribution strategy, including tailored approaches for small group brokers and platforms specializing in level‑funded products.
Establish market presence and the Group Benefits identity within the marketplace, negotiate deal terms, and create long‑term value with current and new sales channel partners.
Set the strategic direction for sales channels with a focus on sustainable, profitable growth and competitive advantage.
Create business cases to gain commitments, develop roadmaps, and adjust as needed to execute with speed and precision.
Lead a team that develops and implements sales programs, including partner relations, integration, and service delivery.
Inspire a shared vision, support a culture of engagement and sales coaching, and ensure personal and professional development for team members.
Manage relationships with benefit brokers, employers, platforms, member & specialty groups, independent agents, and advisor partnerships, enhancing the brand and reputation of Nationwide.
Maintain relationships with internal areas that support sales and product development.
Use data, research, and partner feedback to uncover growth opportunities and improve partner messaging, processes, and product solutions.
Design key performance indicators, reporting, and variable compensation programs to drive top performance.
Oversee associate management, including recruiting, development, performance, compensation plans, workflow, organization design, and corrective action.
Additional Responsibilities Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships Reports to President, Group Benefits; leads a team of sales leaders.
Typical Skills and Experiences
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
License/Certification: CEBS, CLU, and/or ChFC preferred.
Experience: 10–15 years of sales and leadership experience within the insurance or financial services industry.
Skills: Strong collaboration and facilitation of cross‑functional teams; strategic orientation; ability to translate business strategy into financial implications; negotiating and influencing skills; quantitative and qualitative assessment; critical thinking; excellent verbal and written communication; futurist thinking; sales data analytics.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences, may take precedence.
