State Tax Manager
We’re working with a market‑leading organization that operates at massive scale across the U.S. The tax function plays a visible role in strategy and is investing heavily in people, systems, and future growth. Role Responsibilities
This position offers broad exposure across compliance, planning, audits, and accounting in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Manage complex multistate income and franchise tax compliance, including preparation, review, and analysis. Support state tax audits, documenting, modeling, and coordinating with stakeholders. Identify, analyze, and document FIN 48 / ASC 740-10 positions. Research and contemporaneously document material state income tax positions in coordination with subject matter experts. Model cash and U.S. GAAP state tax impacts of transactions, business changes, and audit positions. Perform detailed state income tax research and clearly communicate conclusions to management. Analyze large and complex data sets and present results in a clear, usable way. Manage and contribute to tax‑related projects, including system maintenance and process improvements. Prepare and review tax workpapers and supporting documentation. Draft responses to state taxing authorities and other government inquiries. Lead or support initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and transparency through technology and process enhancements. Needed Profile
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Accounting or Finance preferred. CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of experience in state and local income/franchise tax. Experience managing multistate compliance for a large, complex taxpayer. Strong technical foundation in state income tax, including apportionment methodologies and accounting rules. Seniority level
