Job Description This role is field‑based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers Fargo, Sioux Falls, Bismarck and surrounding areas. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance. Place the patient at the center of all efforts and operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc., to meet or exceed those objectives.

Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, concerns, and consistently gain logical calls to action to close every sales call.

Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.

Develop and execute a call plan that meets call metrics, optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers, and maximizes access and sales opportunities.

Continuously build understanding of customer needs and expectations, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise. Share market intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to achieve alignment, anticipate environmental changes, and optimize brand strategy and execution.

Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers, identify, develop, and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years of experience, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.

Demonstrated in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders. Strong business acumen, proficient use of business tools, strategic and critical thinking, and effective operation in a matrix environment. Provides innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities.

Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills. Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts quickly to all aspects of selling approach. Provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates and responds to changes.

Influences others, viewed as a credible and respected role model among peers. Builds collaborative partnership with district colleagues and matrix team. Leads by example and consistently displays positive behaviors and peer coaching.

Documented success in leadership and support roles at increased responsibility levels in district, region, and/or organization. Uses findings to develop sales strategies.

Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within therapeutic areas. Commercial pharmaceutical experience such as physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing preferred. English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non‑English speaking countries).

Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations within the assigned territory. This includes background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization, fingerprinting, and state or city licenses. The applicant is solely responsible for ensuring compliance and is liable for failure to do so.

Key Stakeholders External: Specialty physicians in therapeutic brand area, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on brand plan. Internal: In‑field team members, sales management (e.g., DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence, and brand plan stakeholders.

The compensation range described below is the possible base pay that the company believes, in good faith, it will pay for this role at the time of posting based on the job grade. Actual pay may vary based on location and other factors.
