Full-time, Direct Hire Position Summary We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and troubleshoot innovative rotating electrical connector solutions for customers worldwide. This role works closely with mechanical and electrical engineers, sales, and manufacturing teams to develop custom rotary electrical connectors that meet unique industry, environmental, and performance requirements. This is a hands-on role supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through production. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test custom rotary electrical connectors from concept through production Create and execute mechanical and electrical test criteria and prototype test setups Develop work instructions and supporting documentation for manufacturing and production teams Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks to clearly convey design intent and functionality Participate in all phases of product development including design, manufacturing, assembly, first-article qualification, and production within the ERP system Manage schedules and maintain project momentum to meet customer and market-driven deadlines Collaborate with machine shops and external vendors to optimize designs for manufacturability and delivery timelines Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop new products, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance, reliability, and cost Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field required Required Qualifications 4+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or in a related role Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD, specifically SolidWorks Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting prototypes, including machining or modifying parts Experience with complex, multi-part assemblies and tight-tolerance components Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machine shop practices, and tolerancing Familiarity with documentation control and revision management Proficiency with Google Workspace and standard computer applications Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Ability to commute to Middleton, WI 53562 Preferred Qualifications Experience with rotary seals, O-rings, bearings, and rotating mechanical systems Familiarity with Arduino and/or Python programming Experience with product testing, validation, and or HALT testing Knowledge of material interactions and applied chemistry concepts Understanding of ISO, CE, UL, IEC, and other relevant certifications Experience with GD and T and tolerance-critical measurements Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles Experience supporting production and manufacturing issue resolution Hands-on machining experience including lathes and mills Background in materials selection and qualification Benefits 401(k) Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Flexible schedule Paid time off Professional development assistance ABR Employment Services is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
