Director of Campus Safety
Overview
Provides leadership, vision, and direction to the non‑sworn department staffed by California licensed unarmed security guards, responsible for the 24/7 safety and security of Touro University’s students, staff, visitors and all facilities.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations concerning university safety and security.
Prepare reports, presentations, investigations, security and threat assessments, and the annual Clery report.
Assist with Title IX investigations, manage the VAWA training program, and write and submit security grants.
Prepare the annual operating and capital budget; plan staffing for special events, graduations, ceremonies, and dignitary visits.
Manage CCTV, access control, parking, visitor management, the security vehicle fleet, outdoor emergency phone towers, staff uniform requirements, and mass notification systems.
Serve as Incident Commander for all campus emergencies, coordinating with campus departments, external agencies, and emergency responders.
Represent Campus Safety on the TUC Academic Leadership Team.
Make staffing recommendations, recruit and hire staff, develop training programs, and manage personnel issues with HR and General Counsel.
Review, update, and develop security policies, procedures, and crime‑prevention strategies, focusing on active shooter, lockdown, evacuation, and shelter‑in‑place protocols.
Coordinate the development of an online dispatch, incident‑reporting, CCTV, access‑control, and alarm system platform.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise Campus Safety Officers.
Qualifications
10+ years of police experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or command role in a federal or state agency; experience in private security valued.
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field (Master’s preferred).
Graduate of FBI National Academy, PERF Senior Management Institute, or equivalent training (preferred).
Must obtain and maintain a California state security guard license within 60 days of employment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; understanding of CCTV and access‑control systems preferred.
Public speaking experience preferred.
Compensation Maximum salary:
USD $110,000.00/Yr. Minimum salary:
USD $93,500.00/Yr.
