Brief Description Reporting to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, the Global Privacy Officer is a senior member of the Ethics, Compliance, and Privacy department. The role advances the company’s commitment to compliance, ethics, and privacy by developing, implementing, and continuously enhancing a global privacy program aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Job Responsibilities

Lead a team of privacy professionals to support the strategic objectives of the organization and its commitment to compliance, ethics, and privacy.

Develop, implement, and maintain a global privacy program aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Serve as a key point of contact for privacy authorities in the US, UK, and EU as necessary.

Reliably and proactively identify privacy risk and design effective mitigation strategies.

Oversee DPIAs, privacy risk assessments, and third‑party vendor evaluations to manage privacy risk.

In partnership with the Senior Compliance Officer, collect and analyze data to detect emerging risk areas, deficient controls, or non‑compliance, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.

Draft global privacy policies, design and deliver training programs, and lead investigations and responses to data breaches and privacy incidents, including regulatory reporting and remediation.

Promote a privacy‑first culture through ongoing education and engagement.

Manage processes for handling data subject access requests, consent management, and individual rights under GDPR and other laws.

Lead cross‑functional efforts to ensure compliance across R&D, clinical trials, marketing, HR, and digital platforms.

Coordinate with other lead team members of Ethics, Compliance, and Privacy to advance departmental goals and maintain consistency in approach.

Stay informed on new laws, regulations, and industry trends and reflect changes in the global privacy program.

Assist other departments with projects and activities outside primary responsibilities to support corporate objectives.

Requirements

10‑12 years of relevant pharmaceutical privacy experience in‑house, managing a global privacy program in a multinational organization.

Law degree preferred, but not required.

Deep understanding of global privacy regulations and practical application.

Experience managing privacy incidents and/or data breaches.

Solid judgment and business acumen with understanding of operations in multinational pharmaceutical organizations.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; enthusiastic, self‑motivated, efficient, and capable of managing a heavy workload.

Team player who enjoys working in and supporting a collaborative environment.

Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, flexibility, and collaboration, and ability to interface at all organizational levels and with external parties.

Effective manager capable of driving enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive work environment for the team.

Travel required.

Compensation (US Based) Full and complete base pay range: $240,000.00 – $360,000.00. Compensation within this range depends on qualifications, skills, experience, and job knowledge. Additional compensation may include discretionary annual cash bonuses, equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid vacation, etc.).
