Vice President, Cities & Public Affairs
BerlinRosen, a leading full‑service consulting and communications firm, is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead strategic public affairs initiatives for clients across New York, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. The role is based in New York, NY on a hybrid basis and requires a fast‑paced, collaborative leader with a deep understanding of city, state and federal policy. About The Public Affairs Team
BerlinRosen’s Public Affairs Practice brings over 30 seasoned professionals who execute campaign‑style strategies to influence policy, drive community support and elevate brand visibility in key markets. Key Responsibilities
Develop integrated communications strategies—including earned, owned and paid media—to meet client objectives and influence policy at the local, state and federal level. Manage day‑to‑day client communications, providing regular updates and problem‑solving on portfolio accounts. Lead a team of junior staff, delegating, modeling best practices and providing constructive feedback to ensure high‑quality deliverables and staff development. Coordinate cross‑functional internal and external teams to deploy integrated services such as media relations, digital advertising and research. Drive new story angles and media opportunities, conceptualizing creative feature stories and identifying targets across print, broadcast, radio, podcasts and online platforms. Lead thought leadership programs for executives, drafting persuasive op‑eds, pitches and conference appearances to raise client executive visibility. Collaborate with senior leaders on capacity planning to maintain efficient team operations. Contribute to business development and growth initiatives. Qualifications
Minimum 8 years of experience in strategic communications and media relations within advocacy, politics or government; agency experience a plus. Strong storytelling skills with a proven track record of creating news moments and media opportunities. Savvy, creative media relations and pitching, social media content ideation and influencer engagement, with a keen ability to identify new targets and angles. Understanding of New York City and State politics and media preferred; expertise in other geographies valued. Experience in thought leadership and executive profile raising a plus. Experience designing media and marketing programs to reach stakeholder audiences. Experience maintaining strong relationships with reporters and handling rapid response and long‑lead stories. At least 2 years of experience managing teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident speaking with staff, clients and the media. Organized, fast‑paced, capable of handling multiple assignments and meeting deadlines. Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range : $140,000–$150,000 (commensurate with experience).
