Squarespace
Squarespace is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to serve as its Senior Director of Tax. You will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer and will guide our global tax structure including tax provision, tax planning and tax compliance. You will play a key role in strategic financial initiatives and lead the global tax team. You will be based out of our New York City headquarters.
Responsibilities
Lead GAAP tax provision, tax reserves and related disclosures. Lead compliance (US Federal, US State and International), accounting for income taxes, technical research, process improvement, and internal controls
Ensure compliance with US and international tax laws and regulations
Create and execute a comprehensive tax strategy, assessing the tax impact of strategic initiatives, and driving tax decision‑making
Build the process and infrastructure that allows us to simulate global tax scenarios in real‑time. You will be empowered to replace manual work with intelligent workflows, allowing your team to focus on high‑value strategic planning rather than data manipulation
Partner with our Legal team in the U.S. and Ireland on a range of tax and commercial matters
Work cross‑functionally with various stakeholders including Accounting, Treasury, Legal, HR, and Marketing
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of tax professionals
Qualifications
15+ years of professional experience in Tax with at least 5 years in a senior role with demonstrated experience managing a global tax function
Experience with tax accounting for valuation allowances, treatment of stock compensation, international tax structure and cost sharing structures
CPA license required, Masters in Tax preferred
Deep technical expertise with demonstrated experience resolving complex tax issues
Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to executive leadership

Cash Compensation Range: $228,500 - $320,000 USD The base salary for this position will vary based on job‑related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.
In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary.
