Description of Work Staff psychiatrists serve as team leaders for multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment. Key responsibilities include:
Evaluate patients upon admission.
Provide inpatient psychiatric care, including consultations and written psychiatric assessments with treatment plans.
Perform chronic medication management and psychotropic drug reviews.
Coordinate and continue care for residents in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Assist medical staff as needed.
Work Monday–Friday (8 am–5 pm) with a light call schedule.
Qualifications
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
Considerable knowledge of inpatient psychiatry.
Thorough knowledge of biological, social, and psychological developmental processes across all ages.
Demonstrated clinical abilities and ability to work on an interdisciplinary team.
Minimum education and experience as listed in the vacancy announcement (e.g., board‑certified in psychiatry).
Salary Range $163,783 – $327,566
Sign‑On Bonus
$20,000 sign‑on bonus may be offered to the successful applicant, contingent on 2025‑2026 budget approval.
Eligibility requirements include full‑time status (30–40 hrs/week) and no prior sign‑on bonus from a North Carolina state agency or the University of North Carolina system within 12 months.
Additional constraints: no prior sign‑on bonus, no contract placement or recruitment fees paid by DHHS, etc.
