Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assist physicians in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance with policy and procedure.
Assist in diagnostic interventional procedures operating interventional and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort; provide procedural explanation and answer patient questions.
Transfer patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers.
Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.
Set up sterile tray; clean and dispose after procedure.
Participate in activities which promote professional self‑growth and development.
Assist physician with administration of contrast media.
Assist in maintaining inventory for the department.
Responsible for all aspects of the Electrophysiology (EP) program (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148 & 8149).
Keep current with new developments in EP (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148 & 8149).
Responsible for preventative maintenance of interventional equipment.
Perform routine safety checks and inspections of equipment to ensure these are current, in good order and ready for use.
Perform other work‑related duties as assigned or requested.
Education/Experience/Training Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist II (RCIS) – Job Code: 8147
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
Associate’s degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology.
Associate’s degree or higher and a minimum of 3 years recent experience as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
BLS – Current Basic Life Support certification.
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
IABP – Intra‑aortic Balloon Pump Course.
RCIS – Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification.
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist EP – Job Code: 8153
Five (5) years recent experience (within the past five years) in Cardiovascular EP OR.
Any two of the following:
Cardiac Interventional certification (CI).
Vascular Interventional certification (VI).
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS).
BLS – Current Basic Life Support certification.
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
IABP – Intra‑aortic Balloon Pump Course.
Special Procedures Tech 1 – Job Code: 8150
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
High school graduate or GED.
Minimum of two (2) years post‑technical school radiology experience or six (6) months recent experience as a Special Procedures Technologist.
Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Registered by the ARRT.
Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.
Successful passage of the Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Exam or Basic Arrhythmia course within twelve (12) months of accepting the position.
BLS – Current Basic Life Support certification.
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
IABP – Intra‑aortic Balloon Pump Course.
Special Procedures Tech 2 – Job Codes: 8151 & 8152
Either Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) or Cardiac Interventional certification (CI) or Vascular Interventional certification (VI) or three (3) years recent experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology.
Or completion of EP training program.
