General Statement The Quinsigamond Community College Respiratory Care Program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), is seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Director to provide medical guidance and ensure the delivery of high-quality education and clinical training for future respiratory therapists.

The Medical Director will work collaboratively with the Program Director (PD) and Director of Clinical Education (DCE) to ensure that didactic instruction, laboratory activities, and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current evidence‑based standards of respiratory care practice.

Supervision Received Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Healthcare

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide competent medical guidance that supports the mission and goals of the Respiratory Care Program.

Collaborate with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education to ensure that all instructional components (didactic, laboratory, and clinical) are aligned with current clinical practice standards and CoARC requirements.

Review and advise on curriculum, clinical protocols, and program policies as they relate to medical accuracy and best practices.

Participate as an active member of the program’s Advisory Committee.

Support the development of students’ clinical competencies by consulting on clinical education practices and emerging trends in respiratory care.

Serve as a resource to faculty and clinical affiliates regarding updates in respiratory medicine, patient care standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed physician (MD or DO) in good standing.

Board certified by an ABMS or AOA‑recognized specialty relevant to respiratory care.

Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care practices, professional standards, and clinical education.

Commitment to supporting high‑quality education and collaborative program leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching or supervising respiratory therapists, medical students, or allied health students.

Previous involvement with CoARC standards or accredited allied health programs.

Strong communication and leadership skills with a student‑centered mindset.
