Assoc Dir,Core IT Svcs The University of New Mexico’s Chief Information Officer/Information Technologies is looking for an Associate Director of IT Campus Outreach & Engagement. This position will report to the Director of IT Campus Outreach & Engagement and will provide leadership to the University of New Mexico’s IT Officers who oversee the technology services for the University’s academic colleges and schools, the branch campuses, as well as the administrative support units, such as Institutional Support Services and Human Resources. The Associate Director will supervise the technical teams for UNM Athletics, UNM Police Department and the UNM School of Law.

The Associate Director will also be responsible for updating and creating standard operation procedures for the technological services offered by Campus Outreach & Engagement, as well as coordinating service delivery and design in conjunction with UNM’s Customer Support Services team.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for UNM IT Officers overseeing departmental technology services.

Participate in COE’s financial planning, including funding requests and presentation to campus stakeholders and senior leadership.

Develop and implement technology standards for faculty and staff workstations.

Maintain and share expertise on current and emerging technology trends in higher education.

Direct staffing plans and professional development for UNM Athletics, UNM Police Department, UNM School of Law, and other departments without dedicated IT Officers.

Review, prioritize, and approve projects to ensure sustainable support and balanced workloads.

Foster collaboration across IT units and university departments to deliver efficient, high-quality technology services to the UNM community.

This position requires frequent on-site engagement with diverse stakeholders and oversight of staff responsible for workstation, security, and other IT services. While limited remote work may be possible, the role primarily demands on-campus presence to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing IT leadership and developing core service offerings and strategies in an education environment.

Broad experience and understanding of higher education dynamics and the evolving needs of students, faculty, and administrative support units.

Proven leadership of large, diverse teams and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary departments.

Ability to communicate technical information to a diverse audience of technical and non-technical individuals, especially faculty and academic leadership.

Knowledge of user experience/satisfaction analysis and measurement methods.

Expertise with leadership of user-centered service design and delivery strategies.

Expertise providing workstation support for both Windows and Mac.
