A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients in a team-based setting.
Job Summary This position is involved in a team-based approach to care, with responsibilities including coordinating patient care, supporting patients and families in self‑management, managing the practice’s patient population, and participating in quality improvement and performance evaluation.
Additional Duties for RN, Staff Nurse Performing Additional Duties
Overall clinical activities in the Children’s Kennedy Outpatient Center (ChKOC).
Daily assignment of the Rapid Response Team; respond to and lead all Rapid Responses (assess patient, call 911, notify Children’s ED, etc.).
Compliance and training of ChKOC employees in the lab per Lab CLIA requirements.
Orientation of all clinical new hires/transfers for ChKOC.
Ensure all clinical staff have completed required skill competencies.
Education
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Experience
Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
Knowledge of current trends and new developments.
Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to areas requiring special education.
Previous pediatric experience (preferred).
License / Certification / Registration
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
BLS certification, completed prior to assignment and maintained thereafter.
PALS certification, completed prior to assignment and maintained thereafter.
Department Position Summary The employee must demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to provide comprehensive, emergent care appropriate to the age of patients in the Ambulatory Department. This includes assessing patients, re‑evaluating and prioritizing based on volume and acuity changes, recognizing emergent situations, and acting promptly. The RN must also develop, implement, and evaluate care plans, administer ordered medications, perform required procedures, and operate necessary equipment.
Proficiency in growth and development across the lifespan is essential, as is the ability to interpret patient data relative to age‑specific needs. Competency will be evaluated through direct supervision, skill labs, peer review, and self‑assessment.
