Job Description Job Description HVAC Mechanic Location: Sacramento Shift/Pay: Hourly – onsite industrial environment Role Type: Industrial HVAC/Refrigeration Technician Simple Overview We need an experienced industrial HVAC/Refrigeration Tech who can install, maintain, and repair all heating, cooling, and air systems across a food manufacturing plant. This person must be strong in troubleshooting, able to handle electrical up to 480 volts, and have their EPA Universal 608 certification . This is NOT a residential HVAC role. We need someone comfortable working in a large manufacturing plant with big commercial/industrial systems. What the Hiring Manager Is Looking For Top Must-Haves 5 years of HVAC/Refrigeration experience (industrial/commercial experience preferred) EPA Universal 608 certification – must have Able to troubleshoot mechanical electrical issues (up to 480V) Comfortable working with: Compressors Chillers Coils Condensers Motors, belts, bearings Air compressors Water treatment for chilled/hot water loops Can read electrical/ wiring diagrams Comfortable doing preventive maintenance repairs Works safely and follows GMP, HACCP, and food plant protocols Day-to-Day in Plain Terms This tech will be responsible for keeping all heating, cooling, and ventilation systems running smoothly across the whole plant. Daily tasks might include: Checking pressures and refrigeration levels Cleaning coils and condensate lines Changing filters, belts, motors, bearings Troubleshooting systems that aren’t cooling/heating properly Fixing electrical issues up to 480V Monitoring plant temps/humidity Maintaining air compressors Maintaining hot/chilled water systems and pumps Documenting work completed They will work both independently and with a team . Tools/Equipment They Must Feel Comfortable With Oxy-acetylene torch Vacuum pump Manifold gauges Leak detectors Flaring tools Genie boom lift Scissor lift Forklift / electric carts Soft Skills Needed Good communicator Able to write basic reports Can follow procedures and safety guidelines Comfortable working in hot/cold, noisy, dusty environments Schedule Expectations Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed May need to go to outside training seminars Physical Demands Lots of walking and standing Some climbing Able to lift about 10 lbs regularly Balance Staffing is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
