Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: Jacksonville, Florida (only candidates within a 45 minute radius will be considered, no relocation available)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and supervise our accounting team, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial transactions, reporting, and compliance. This role oversees daily accounting operations, supports month-end close activities, maintains internal controls, and drives process improvements. The Accounting Manager will serve as a key resource for both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment and supporting operational efficiency across the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing teams, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to policies.
  • Enforce and update accounting policies and procedures as needed.
  • Oversee order and account deposits, including ACH and check approvals for accounts payable.
  • Manage sales tax issues, credits, returns, refunds, and account adjustments.
  • Respond to team questions, provide guidance, and serve as a resource for problem-solving and training.
  • Monitor the accounting team mailbox, assign emails, and ensure timely resolution of inquiries from sales coordinators, sales representatives, and customers.
  • Review and approve payment documents for accounts payable and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and distribution of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports.
  • Supervise posting of accounts receivable payments, billing, invoicing, and backup support for key accounting functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for customer requests, statement requests, vendor forms, and specialized reports.
  • Coordinate monthly statements, invoice reminders, and account reconciliations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the accounting team.
  • Serve as a backup for critical accounting functions to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; advanced degree or professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including account reconciliation, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory or management experience within an accounting team.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP ; experience with Square 9 document management and Power BI analytics highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience implementing or maintaining internal controls and working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Prior experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong command of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP; Square 9 and Power BI experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to coach and develop team members.
