Primary Responsibilities
Partner with Market Sector Directors, transit engineering, rail and transit systems and O&M design teams, business development leads, and regional leadership to identify strategic focus areas and market drivers.
Serve as a technical advisor or lead in support of strategic pursuits and projects in collaboration with business class directors.
Assess the marketplace, develop recommendations, and advise on the best business approach for HDR.
Support proposal and collateral development and foster staff hire and retention.
Monitor performance trends of transit-aligned business classes, including staffing, turnover, backlog, and utilization.
Act as a project manager or principal to ensure high‑quality, on‑time service delivery.
Partner with sector and class directors in executing key initiatives during strategic planning meetings.
Participate in trade associations and other activities supporting business strategy.
Provide input on staff development and recognition for transit-aligned business class directors.
Preferred Qualifications • A highly skilled professional and nationally recognized leader in transit and rail planning, engineering, and construction in the United States.
• A respected organizational leader with a proven record of developing and supporting high‑performance teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, Professional Engineering license (P.E.).
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing and enhancing transportation client relationships throughout the complete life cycle of project delivery.
• Experience managing diverse teams.
• Well‑developed analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers and other cross‑functional leaders.
• Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
10 years experience in related field
Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
