Diagnostic Radiology Technologist - Evenings
$20,000 sign‑on bonus
for eligible applicants! This posting is for an X‑ray Tech I and Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels (X‑ray Tech II) based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis, and independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure correct order, patient identification, and preparation for exam while maintaining confidentiality.
Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to maximize patient safety.
Prepare and/or administer medications through existing vascular access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality, verify archival storage or data transfer, and perform post‑processing if applicable.
Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
Assist the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
Perform diagnostic radiographic and non‑interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed, including those outside the Radiology Department (e.g., operating room, endoscopy, ICU).
Position Details:
New graduates must obtain an ARRT‑R registry within 6 months of hire.
Applicants hired after March 10, 2024 must complete steps required for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education:
Graduate from Specialty Training Program‑Radiologic Technology (required); Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year related work experience (preferred).
Certification(s) and License(s):
Basic Life Support Certification (Default Issuing Body); Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
