Summary/Primary Role:

The Gastroenterologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver. This role provides primarily outpatient care, performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary disorders

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:

Upper endoscopy (EGD)

Colonoscopy

Polypectomy

Biopsy and hemostasis procedures

Manage chronic GI conditions such as IBS, IBD, GERD, liver disease, and colorectal cancer screening

Interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results, imaging, and pathology reports

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines.

Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care

Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical meetings, and continuing medical education

Collaborate with clinical team to ensure continuity of care.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school

Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency

Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology

Active and unrestricted New York State medical license (or eligibility for licensure).

Current DEA registration.

Demonstrated commitment to patient‑centered, evidence‑based care.

Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with electronic medical record systems.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position may have supervisory responsibility for Advanced Practice Providers (NPs or PAs) within the Gastroenterology Department.

Expected Hours of Work:

An Employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full‑time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled. Non‑exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Premier Medical Group also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base salary. The base annual salary range for this position is $400,000.00-$500,000.00.

Travel Requirements:

Travel between Premier Medical Group office locations may be required.

This role operates primarily in a clinical office setting, with inpatient and/or procedural responsibilities. The environment is fast‑paced and patient‑focused, requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain professionalism under pressure.

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for patient examinations and diagnostic procedures.
