Principal Electrical Engineer

Newton, MA
Salary Range:
$104,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
Key Responsibilities
Lead cross‑functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex electro‑mechanical issues, documenting root cause analysis and design recommendations.
Drive electrical engineering design for robust, reliable PCB and cabling solutions.
Develop and implement technical processes and best practices for electronics development.
Manage projects including vendor/supplier coordination and directing technician resources.
Conduct characterization and testing of PCBAs to ensure compliance and performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MS or PhD preferred).
15+ years of experience in R&D or product development.
Strong foundation in analog, digital, and electromechanical design.
Expertise in motor control, mixed‑signal design, and precise sensing applications.
Proficiency with Altium or similar CAD tools; knowledge of EMC and electrical safety.
Familiarity with ISO 13485, IEC 60601‑1, and regulatory standards for Class II & III medical devices.
Advanced analytical skills using MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, and data analysis tools.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience
Development of medical devices in a regulated environment.
Hands‑on experience with electronic design for motor control and mixed‑signal systems.
Strong technical collaboration and project management capabilities.
Pay and Benefits Payment within the range will depend on location, experience, and other factors. The role may also offer performance‑based bonuses.
