Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled

Medical Director & Associate Veterinarian

to join our team at

Rancho Village Veterinary Hospital

in La Mesa, CA. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients while providing high-quality veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor associate veterinarians, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Drive clinical excellence by maintaining rigorous medical standards and ensuring seamless patient care workflows.

Direct hospital operations, including financial stewardship, resource allocation, and strategic planning for new services and equipment.

Serve as a clinical staff veterinarian while performing core medical duties such as examinations, diagnostics, surgery, and dental care.

Maintain high-quality patient care and accurate medical records.

Manage controlled substances and approve supply requests.

Conduct regular doctor‑to‑doctor meetings and develop new medical policies.

Resolve patient and client concerns, manage referral and partnership relationships, and act as a point of contact for board complaints.

Support personnel development by coaching staff veterinarians, mentoring, and interviewing potential DVMs.

Analyse key performance indicators, identify revenue opportunities, and work with management to achieve positive results.

Plan for operational challenges and coordinate locum support when necessary.

Qualifications (Required)

Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university.

Current State Veterinary License and DEA registration.

3–5+ years of veterinary practice experience.

Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality patient care.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation Package

Competitive salary: $175,000 – $200,000 (USD)

Quarterly production with no deficit carryover plan.

Annual Medical Director stipend: $10,000 paid in monthly installments.

Lucrative sign‑on and retention bonuses (up to $75,000).

Generous relocation assistance.
