Role Overview The Health Services Director is a licensed nurse responsible for coordinating resident care and medication management under the medical direction and supervision of the residents’ attending physicians, ensuring the resident remains as independent as possible for as long as possible.
Responsibilities
Communicate with community healthcare professionals, including physicians, discharge planners, nurses, and state agencies regarding resident care needs.
Coordinate incidental medical, dental, vision, hearing, and podiatry care for residents.
Perform nursing duties as directed and within the Nurse Practice Act, including administering medications and performing treatments as ordered by a physician.
Oversee and provide training for Medication Technicians.
Administer resident pre‑admission assessment prior to each move‑in and complete routine and as‑needed reassessments per company policy and state regulations.
Interview prospective residents and families, obtain medical records and other required documentation per Title 22 for admission.
Conduct staff interviews and observe residents continuously to alert the Executive Director and responsible party of changes in the resident’s physical or emotional health, providing information on the care staff’s ability to meet those needs.
Qualifications
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) holding a valid California nursing license in good standing.
Preferably two (2) years of experience in a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE).
Preferably one (1) year of experience supervising and managing employees.
Ability to obtain and maintain valid first aid and CPR certification.
Proficiency in personal computer use and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
Must pass a criminal background clearance and health screening tests, including physical and TB tests.
High motivation and ability to work independently.
Ability to obtain an RCFE operating license (if not already held).
Compliance with Oakmont’s health and safety requirements (vaccination, PPE, etc.) as per regulatory guidelines.
