Position Summary Marion County is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for managing the County’s Oracle Fusion ERP Implementation Project. The Project Director will serve as the County’s on-site, full-time lead, providing end-to-end project leadership, coordination, governance, and oversight to ensure successful implementation and transition to operations. This role represents the County’s interests in all phases of the Oracle Fusion ERP program and acts as the primary liaison between County leadership, internal project teams, subject matter experts, technical staff, and the contracted Oracle Fusion Implementor.
Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Governance
Lead and direct the Oracle Fusion ERP implementation on behalf of Marion County.
Establish and manage PMO governance, project controls, and decision-making frameworks.
Ensure alignment between County leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, and the implementation vendor.
Chair and facilitate on-site project meetings, steering committees, and executive briefings.
Project Planning & Execution
Direct and coordinate the work of County internal project managers across all ERP workstreams.
Manage the integrated project plan, schedule, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks, issues, and constraints.
Ensure adherence to scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations.
Oversight of ERP Workstreams
Oversee critical project components, including:
System and user acceptance testing readiness
Data conversion and validation activities
Security role design and review
Cutover planning, go-live readiness, and deployment activities
Validate that the County is fully prepared for each project phase before advancing.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
Provide regular, clear, and concise executive-level status reports.
Maintain transparent communication across departments and stakeholders.
Escalate issues promptly and drive resolution in collaboration with leadership and vendors.
Facilitate cross-department collaboration to ensure business requirements are met.
Go-Live & Post-Go-Live Support
Provide hands‑on leadership during go‑live and post‑go‑live stabilization.
Coordinate issue triage, decision‑making, and resolution during critical transition periods.
Support a smooth transition from implementation to steady‑state operations.
Knowledge Transfer & Readiness
Ensure effective knowledge transfer from the implementation partner to County staff.
Oversee documentation, training readiness, and operational handoff activities.
Prepare County teams for long‑term ownership, support, and optimization of the Oracle Fusion ERP system.
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience leading large‑scale ERP implementations, preferably Oracle Fusion ERP.
Proven experience managing enterprise PMOs and complex, multi‑workstream programs.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage risks, dependencies, and vendor relationships effectively.
Experience working on‑site in a public sector or large enterprise environment preferred.
Work Requirements
Full‑time, on‑site presence at Marion County facilities.
Availability to support critical project milestones, including go‑live and stabilization phases.
