Driving Growth & Partnerships in Life Sciences Position Overview We are seeking an accomplished Machine Learning Scientist with bioinformatics expertise to join a high-impact computational research team within a leading biotechnology organization. This contract role focuses on developing predictive models using complex, multi-modal clinical datasets to advance patient safety initiatives in drug development.
Duration:
12-month contract with potential for extension
Compensation : $50-$66/hour
Core focus areas include standardizing and harmonizing disparate data sources, engineering informative features from multi-dimensional datasets, and constructing robust predictive models capable of distinguishing risk stratification across patient cohorts.
Primary Responsibilities
Centralize and harmonize complex, multi-source clinical and molecular datasets.
Design and implement machine learning pipelines for risk prediction modeling.
Develop novel feature extraction methodologies from structured and unstructured data.
Partner with cross-functional scientific teams including computational biologists, clinicians, data engineers, and domain experts.
Translate analytical findings into actionable insights for clinical application.
Required Qualifications
PhD in quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field).
Extensive experience with statistical modeling and machine learning methodologies applied to real-world problems.
Advanced programming proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis, statistical computing, and model development.
Demonstrated capability working with heterogeneous data modalities (molecular profiling, clinical variables, medical imaging, laboratory measurements).
Strong foundation in statistical methods, including survival analysis and time-to-event modeling.
Track record of successful end-to-end ML project delivery from data acquisition through model deployment.
Exceptional communication skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Proven collaboration abilities in interdisciplinary research environments.
Active publication record in peer-reviewed venues.
Experience with natural language processing or large language models for extracting insights from clinical narratives and unstructured medical text.
