The ideal candidate will contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks. They will manage the financial operations of the city and provide frequent financial reports. They will also assure strict adherence to financial regulations and compliance.
Responsibilities
Plans, coordinates, and directs work of subordinates in accounting services
Assists in managing cash flow including investment of funds
Responsible for creating and directing the preparation of reports reflecting financial progress
Recommends financial policy and legislation required for financial management and accounting
Attends council meetings and participates in discussion of financial matters before the council
Prepares the annual budget and balancing of expenditures against revenues
Assists in annual audits by outside auditors
Prepares and maintains financial statements and reports
Supervises internal audit
Performs related work as required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
Knowledge of principles and practice of accounting and auditing
Knowledge of investments
Knowledge of municipal and commercial budgeting
Familiarity with Federal financial and accounting procedures of grants
Ability to supervise personnel
Ability to deal effectively with superiors, fellow workers and the public
Ability to work with the public and commercial financial institutions in obtaining and investing public funds
Knowledge of computer operations
