Director of Sales
to lead the strategic development of the business in all target markets. The role is a senior leadership position responsible for motivating and managing the sales team to achieve sales targets, collaborating with application engineers and other departments to provide an exceptional customer experience. Regional Sales Managers and the Inside Sales Manager will report to this position.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Drive profitable sales growth of all products through strategic and tactical initiatives, maintaining a motivated sales organization and developing new customer accounts.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve company objectives for products and services.
Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to manage and control sales and marketing programs.
Develop and grow National Account and target accounts as a critical component of sales growth.
Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals; ensure the sales team utilizes reporting tools and CRM.
Lead sales efforts to penetrate new markets, both domestic and international.
Represent the company at trade shows to promote products.
Meet with key clients, assisting sales representatives with maintaining relationships, negotiating, and closing deals.
Review and analyze sales performance against programs, quotes, and plans to determine effectiveness and react quickly to changes.
Direct market channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing territories and metrics.
Partner with marketing to develop lead generation and revenue programs and create high‑performing sales collateral.
Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategies to achieve long‑term market share.
Monitor competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.
Prepare sales reports showing volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
Position Requirements
BS/BA in a related discipline or an advanced degree; a technical degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
10+ years of sales experience on a high-performing team; background in material handling industry is a plus.
Background in industrial equipment or automation is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Technical writing skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to interface with colleagues and customers at all levels, demonstrating professional competence, integrity, and personal style.
Travel up to 50%.
Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, or hearing; use of hands to handle or touch objects or controls. Occasional climbing, stooping, bending, or reaching above shoulder height. Occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Extensive travel required, often via commercial airline carriers.
Office and factory or facility shop floor.
