Join Amtrak as a Principal Digital Product Owner and be part of a cross‑functional team responsible for delivering high‑impact digital products and analytics platforms, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer value.
Job Summary As a Principal Digital Product Owner, you will guide the development of medium‑to‑high‑complexity digital products, prioritize and manage the product backlog, and serve as the primary voice of the customer.
Essential Functions
Act as the primary voice of the customer and point of contact across multiple products within a value stream, managing the product backlog to reflect business priorities and drive value.
Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
Lead cross‑functional collaboration with product management and stakeholders to define high‑value features and user experiences, delivering scalable solutions with clear acceptance criteria.
Prioritize features and user stories based on business value, customer feedback, and technical feasibility.
Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, and development teams to ensure alignment with the product vision.
Create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the strategic direction, key features, and timelines for product development.
Define and track key metrics and outcomes to measure product success and identify areas for improvement.
Drive agile maturity and continuous improvement both within a team and at an Agile Release Train or Team‑of‑Teams level.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Jira Software, Confluence, FigJam, Jira Align, and similar tools.
Strong understanding of Product Management, User Experience Research, and Design Thinking methodologies.
Experience defining Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approaches and pivot or persevere decisions.
Transportation or customer service industry experience.
Demonstrated success in defining and building products on product teams.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Broad knowledge of enterprise data and analytics, including experience with data platforms such as Databricks.
Ability to prioritize and make data‑driven decisions.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Strong leadership, communication, relationship building, and facilitation skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery.
Demonstrated success in defining and building products on product teams.
Location and Work Arrangements Role is based in Washington, DC, Boston, Wilmington, Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles. Requests for Remote work will be reviewed but are not guaranteed. Candidates must be able to work Eastern Time Zone business hours.

Salary and Benefits Salary/hourly range: $113,200 - $146,664. Pay is based on several factors including education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on location, a geo‑pay differential may apply.
