Senior Language Arts Curriculum Developer
Our Language Arts team is building a comprehensive curriculum rooted in the idea that reading, writing, and speaking are all acts of problem solving. As a Curriculum Developer at AoPS, you will play a key role in developing and refining educational materials that will inspire and train the next generation of great problem solvers. At the Senior level, you will lead the development of full courses or equivalent scopes of content.
The Senior Language Arts Curriculum Developer Will
Outline and develop full courses or equivalent scopes of content and all accompanying educational material
Improve existing materials based on student performance data as well as student and teacher feedback
Incorporate feedback from team members and other stakeholders into their materials
Review and provide feedback on outlines and educational materials created by other curriculum developers
Oversee work of junior curriculum developers collaborating on projects
Participate in teacher training and the creation of training materials, if relevant
Participate in the onboarding, training, and development of interns and junior curriculum developers
Act as a consultant and strategic partner to team members on areas of expertise
Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team
Hone their understanding of our students, teachers, and customers, which may include teaching courses
Proactively communicate potential roadblocks and content status and accurately estimate content creation timelines
Complete other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
The Ideal Candidate Has
Bachelor's degree in a field closely related to Language Arts strongly preferred, with an advanced degree as a plus
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in teaching Language Arts and/or developing Language Arts educational materials, ideally including significant experience at the 6–10 grade levels
Strong experience with and understanding of the students, ideally gifted/advanced students, in their target audience and the teachers who will deliver their content
Excellent writing skills across a variety of genres and contexts, with the ability to translate complex Language Arts concepts into clear, engaging, and understandable content for middle school and early high school audiences.
Strong Language Arts content knowledge and excellent editing skills
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to communicate effectively and proactively with project stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to make good cost-benefit decisions
Strong creativity, with the ability to develop original problems and puzzles
The ability to readily seek out and learn from feedback
Passion for education

Since 2003, we have trained hundreds of thousands of the country’s top students, including nearly all the members of the US International Math Olympiad team, through our online school, in-person academies, textbooks, and online learning systems. While our primary focus has been math for most of our history, through the years we have expanded our unique problem solving curriculum into more subjects, such as language arts, science, and computer science.
