Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate retail and commercial leasing documents, including leases, amendments, assignments, and related agreements.
Advise business teams on lease interpretation, tenant defaults, bankruptcy issues, and compliance matters.
Manage and coordinate bankruptcy-related activities, including filings, proofs of claim, motions, and proceedings affecting landlord rights.
Collaborate with outside counsel on tenant bankruptcies, landlord/tenant disputes, and property-level litigation.
Support transactional legal matters such as acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures.
Provide practical legal guidance to ensure business objectives are met while maintaining compliance.
Must-Have Skills
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top law school with current bar admission.
2-7 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, preferably at a law firm or in-house legal department.
Demonstrated expertise in commercial leasing, bankruptcy, and default management.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound legal judgment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and high professionalism.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures in real estate.
Track record of working with seasoned, deal-oriented business and legal teams.
Ability to provide strategic, business-oriented legal advice.
History of supporting public company activity and related legal matters.
