Managing Director, Nature Finance Join to apply for the Managing Director, Nature Finance role at The Nature Conservancy.

Responsibilities The Managing Director, Nature Finance leads NatureVest’s team of impact finance professionals in developing and executing impact investment and sovereign debt products. This senior finance expert provides oversight and input into the development of both sovereign and non‑sovereign transactions and new product lines. They manage teams to originate and close transactions, source investment capital, and structure transactions to deliver conservation outcomes aligned with TNC’s 2030 Goals. They also provide financing expertise to inform new private equity, corporate finance, and other mechanisms. They oversee numerous projects across geographies in coordination with TNC Global Strategy and Regional Leadership, cultivate partners and opportunities, and manage external relationships with finance institutions, NGOs, country governments, and key stakeholders. The Managing Director directly manages NatureVest’s Impact Investments and Sustainable Debt teams and reports to the Managing Director of NatureVest.

Location: Washington, D.C. or New York City preferred; other locations considered.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 9 years related work experience in a private sector environment, such as investment banking, multilateral finance or government entity, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Debt and structured finance experience and experience structuring, negotiating and closing debt and equity transactions, including in emerging markets.

Experience with debt swap structures, terms and mechanics.

Experience with impact investing structures.

Track record of ensuring programmatic commitments, policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.

Ability to direct the design and implementation of complex and diverse projects, setting deadlines and ensuring program accountability.

Ability to make strategic decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment.

Experience negotiating complex legal agreements from a business and financial perspective.

Experience working at a senior level.

Written and verbal fluency in English.

Desired Qualifications

15 to 20+ years experience in financial services and transactions.

Experience managing a team of finance professionals to close financial transactions.

Multi‑cultural or cross‑cultural experience.

Strong team player who can build relationships and work collaboratively across the organization in an unstructured environment and with Conservancy partners; prior experience working with NGOs a plus.

Experience both in and outside the U.S. strongly preferred. Demonstrated commitment to developing and practicing global literacy.

Acts independently and exercises judgment to identify and solve complex problems.

Outstanding analytical and project management capabilities.

Superior written and oral communications.

Skills in a language in addition to English a strong plus (Spanish and/or French).

Salary Information The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $250,000 – $300,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Pay within this range will be based on factors such as location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Candidates outside the USA will have a different pay range in local currency.
