Job Summary This position is located in the Department of General Services (DGS), Portfolio Division. DGS manages the capital improvement and construction program for District government facilities; real property for District government use; management of space in buildings operated or leased by District government for selling and leasing other District real property; and for providing building services for facilities owned or operated by the District.
Duties And Responsibilities
Acquire real estate and dispose of surplus property.
Plan and manage real estate to achieve maximum and appropriate use.
Maintain a centralized automated property inventory of all real property assets.
Budget for the portfolio and allocate space to District agencies.
Handle transfers of jurisdiction and easements.
Manage and allocate space within assets owned and leased by the District government.
Identify and secure non-District owned space, including lease process.
Manage disposal of District real property through sale, lease, or other authorized methods.
Assist District agencies in developing short and long term plans for space needs.
Work collaboratively with District agencies and the Construction Division to assist in managing construction and move processes.
Manage data and informational needs pertaining to real property.
Maintain inventory records for tracking and managing the portfolio.
Qualifications And Education Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Working Condition/Environment Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent may be required to visit other location from time to time.

Salary Range: $127,030.00 - $177,839.00; based on available funding
Type of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service (MSS)
MSS-At-Will Statement: Positions in the Management Supervisory Service (MSS) serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Promotion Potential: No known promotion potential
Area of Consideration: Open to the public
Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not in a collective bargaining unit
Emergency/Essential Designation: This position is designated as Essential. As an Essential employee, you will be required to report to work or stay at work during a declared emergency.
Position Designation: This position has been designated as
security sensitive
therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
Residency Requirement: If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
