The Senior Director of Operations provides strategic and day-to-day leadership for the organization’s operational infrastructure, ensuring efficient, compliant, and mission-aligned service delivery. This role oversees Facilities, Human Resources, Information Technology, and front desk/housekeeping operations, supporting both programmatic and administrative functions. As a member of the leadership team, the Senior Director partners across departments to align systems, resources, and people with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Infrastructure (Primary Focus)

Oversee facilities management, including maintenance, safety, security, compliance, and capital projects.

Manage vendors, contractors, leases, and space rentals for offices and events.

Develop and monitor facilities and operational budgets.

Lead safety, emergency preparedness, and incident response efforts.

Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA, ADA, and local regulations.

Human Resources

Provide leadership over HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and compliance.

Ensure adherence to employment laws, internal policies, and best practices.

Information Technology

Oversee IT systems, data security, and technology infrastructure.

Partner with external IT vendors to support system upgrades, cybersecurity, and user support.

Support data management and reporting systems.

Leadership & Management

Supervise managers and senior staff; provide regular supervision and annual evaluations.

Promote a workplace culture grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Serve as a member of the leadership team, collaborating across departments.

Represent the organization professionally in community and stakeholder settings.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

Oversee operational aspects of federal, state, and foundation-funded contracts.

Assist with departmental budgeting, monitoring, and modifications.

Support fundraising and grant-related planning as applicable.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.

Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or related) preferred.

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible operations or organizational management experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership.

Experience managing cross‑functional teams and aligning operations with program goals.

Skills & Competencies

Strong strategic planning, process improvement, and performance measurement skills.

Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.

Strong financial, budgeting, and data analysis skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and video/teleconferencing tools.

Knowledge of IT systems, networks, and cloud‑based technologies.
